A 5th Degree Black Belt with over 20 years of experience, Grace Blackmer brings extraordinary skill, passion, and purpose to Martial Arts Grand Traverse (MAGT). A proud Traverse City native, her journey began not in the dojang, but in the dance studio, where she honed the discipline, strength, and poise that laid the groundwork for what would later become a lifelong dedication to martial arts.
Her passion for martial arts has taken her across the country, studying in multiple countries and deepening her understanding of both the physical and philosophical sides of martial arts. In early 2020, after earning multiple black belt degrees, Grace purchased MAGT (formerly ATA Martial Arts), with a renewed mission: to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where students of all ages from preschoolers to seniors can thrive. The thoughtful curriculum at MAGT weaves together high-level technique with life skill development in six key areas: discipline, belief, communication, honesty, self-esteem, and respect.
At Martial Arts Grand Traverse, Grace leads with a spirit of authenticity, power, and dedication. Her commitment to lifelong learning is matched only by her love for community. When she’s not on the mat, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the Northern Michigan outdoors, and staying active in the Traverse City area she’s proud to call home.
